Selection Guide: Recommended HPMC Types for Wall Putty
HP 8081-100J
Type: Pure
Suitable for interior standard wall putty (excellent workability, low ash content, eco-friendly)

1. Water Retention: Ensure Sufficient Cement Hydration
- Application Advantage: Maintain moisture for 4-6 hours, ensuring cement fully hardens.

2. Adhesion Enhancement: Prevent Powdering & Peeling
- Application Advantage: No powdering, ensuring good adhesion for subsequent emulsion paint.

3. Workability Optimization: Smooth Troweling & Anti-Sagging
- Application Advantage: Ensures uniform putty thickness (0.5-2mm), and avoids rework caused by sagging.

4. Crack Resistance: Extend Wall Service Life
- Application Advantage: Remains intact for 5-8 years, reducing maintenance costs for exterior and interior walls.

Q1. What is the impact of HPMC fineness on putty?
Q2. If the wall putty powders after application, is it definitely caused by insufficient HPMC water retention?
Q3. Can caked HPMC still be used normally in putty production?
Q4. What specific impacts does excessive or insufficient HPMC dosage have on wall putty performance?
Excessive dosage (e.g., >0.8% for exterior putty) slows down the putty’s drying speed, causes surface wrinkling, and increases raw material costs.
For recommended standard dosage, please request your own HPMC suppliers or contact JINJI CHEMICAL.
Q5. How to select HPMC viscosity grades for different types of wall putty (interior/exterior/gypsum-based)?
For interior standard putty, choose 35,000-50,000 mPa·s (Brookfield 2% Solution, 25℃) to balance troweling smoothness and water retention;
For exterior wall putty, 550,000-60,000 mPa·s is preferred to enhance anti-sagging performance for outdoor vertical construction;
For gypsum-based putty, 35,000-45,000 mPa·s is recommended to avoid abnormal gypsum setting caused by excessive viscosity.
If you are a putty manufacturer, you can adjust the selection of HPMC accordingly based on the ratio of cement to gypsum in your putty formulation, and wholesalers/distributors can provide small-batch samples of multiple viscosities for customers to test compatibility.
